The water level in the salt tank will fluctuate based on the valve position on your softener. Read our tips below to learn what to expect.
Water Level
You'll be prompted to add three gallons of water to the salt tank during initial installation. From there, your unit will regulate the water level for you, at a steady 2-4 inches in the bottom of the tank. During a recharge, the tank will fill with water and then drain that water back down to 2-4 inches.

Thank you for this article! My old water softener always had a significant amount of water over the level of salt in the salt tank. My new Whirlpool had the required amount when I installed it a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't know if it was normal not to see any water n the salt tank, now that it's been in service for about 2 weeks. Thanks again!
