Have you noticed a poor taste coming from your filtered water? That's not something you want. It may be from the age of the filter or your system may need to be sanitized. Let's do some troubleshooting to figure this out. Follow along below!
Filter Age
Your filters have an average lifetime of about 6 months - depending on use and water quality. If your filters are still fairly new (under a few months), you may want to swap them out and see if the poor taste continues.
Has the taste improved with new filters?
- NO - I still have poor taste: If you still have poor taste with new filters, your system needs to be sanitized (see below).
- YES - taste has improved: If the poor taste is gone with new filters - you may wish to contact us or the retailer you purchased from. Please have the original receipt and 5-digit date code from the filter sticker handy when reaching out to us.
Sanitizing
We recommend sanitizing your RO system every few years, or when you return from a long vacation. Check out the steps in our article Sanitizing Your Reverse Osmosis System. You may also want to consider a reusable Sanitizing Kit (recommended).
